1. Wrestling Loses Eddie Guerrero

WWE staff, wrestlers, management and fans were ill-prepared for 13 November 2005. That day, the industry lost one of its most talented sons. Eddie Guerrero died in his hotel room. His nephew Chavo was the one who found him, but medics couldn't save Eddie's life. He was only 38 years old, and he seemed to have years of top tier matches ahead of him.

Worse, Guerrero was also a young father and husband. He should've been able to enjoy more time with his family, but his life was cruelly snuffed out during his prime years. Word quickly spread about Eddie's death, but nobody could really fathom it. After all, he'd literally just appeared in a match vs. Mr. Kennedy on the 11 November edition of SmackDown (taped on 8 November), and nothing seemed to be amiss.

WWE held a touching tribute episode to Guerrero’s memory. It was heartbreaking to witness. Various wrestlers broke down when talking about their fallen friend, then video packages in memory of 'Latino Heat' had tears flowing all over again. It was one of the saddest times in history to be a pro wrestling fan.

People still feel a pang of grief when they think about where they were when they heard that Eddie had passed away.

Thankfully, Guerrero had ascended to main event status and enjoyed a WWE Title reign the year prior. That was no substitute for lost life, of course, but his fans remain grateful that Eddie experienced such a career high. 2005 will forever be remembered as the year one of the greats left us.
