8. “Summerfest”

WWE's 'Raw Guest Host' era was sometimes inoffensive/sometimes painful depending on how switched on the celebs coming in were. Bob Barker was one of the best, because he put his all into the performance and understood that he was there to be part of the wacky wrestling world for a few charming hours. Crucially, Bob also did his homework and came armed with some product knowledge.

Then there was Jeremy Piven. He was the celeb host on Raw's 3 August 2009 episode. Ken Jeong was there with him to promote a movie, and he spent most of the time hamming it up like he was auditioning down at the soon-to-be WWE Performance Center a few years later. Being fair, someone had to, because our Jeremy blatantly had no clue what he was really doing inside a wrestling ring.

When setting up a ‘Lumberjack Match’ between The Miz and John Cena, Piven said that Miz would be “banned from the summerfest” if he lost. Thinking on his feet, Cena quickly corrected the actor by saying Miz would be banned from SummerSlam. You've got to give one thing to Jeremy, at least: He poked fun at himself for the error by saying: "Yes, SummerSlam...and the summerfest, whatever that is!".

It was too little, too late. One clanger proved that Piven hadn't been briefed properly on WWE's upcoming tentpole pay-per-view. Somehow, this guest host thing ran all the way up until May 2010 when Vince McMahon mercifully put a red pen through it and stopped leaning on celebs to pop a rating from people who wouldn't normally watch wrestling.

Hey, it's a small mercy that Piven didn't get WrestleMania wrong and call it 'Colossal Tussle' or something.
