10 WrestleMania Rematches That Were Better Than The Originals

2. John Cena vs. JBL - Judgment Day 2005

In late 2004, it became evident that John Cena was the WWE's next big star, and the man to end the seemingly-interminable WWE Championship reign of John "Bradshaw" Layfield. Though he failed to win the Royal Rumble, a win over multi-time champion Kurt Angle assured that the Doctor of Thuganomics would compete for the gold. A hard-fought win over Bradshaw would legitimize Cena as a main event player... unfortunately, we got a truncated match that saw JBL dominate in plodding fashion, then Cena pull out the victory with an AA out of nowhere. Who'd have thought the end of JBL's title reign would be such a disappointment? The next month, though, JBL became the number one contender, and at Judgment Day, we got the brutal blow-off WrestleMania couldn't give us. In this "I Quit" match, Cena and Bradshaw beat each raw using a variety of weapons including chairs, tables, monitors, and parts of a flatbed truck Cena rode into the arena. In the end, Cena threatened JBL with the truck's exhaust pipe, and the big man quickly quit. Nevertheless, Cena obliterated him with the pipe, then stood triumphant, celebrating the first of many classic matches the Chain Gang Leader would have as WWE Champion.
