10 WrestleMania Rematches That Were Better Than The Originals

3. Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan - Extreme Rules 2012

When Sheamus beat Daniel Bryan to win the World Heavyweight Championship in WrestleMania XXVIII's opener, a wave of anger spread over the Miami crowd €“ not for the result itself, but because the match was only 18 seconds long. It felt like a slap in the face to the hardcore fans who had traveled hundreds (or in some cases, thousands) of miles, many of whom were avid Bryan supporters. His ultra-entertaining title reign just€ ended, and once again Bryan was screwed out of a real place on the WrestleMania card. Exercising his rematch clause, Bryan demanded a two-out-of-three falls match to prevent being caught off-guard by Sheamus. "The Celtic Warrior" agreed, and so the rematch at Extreme Rules got a bit more time to breathe. Bryan used his technical expertise to keep Sheamus under control in the early goings, but the challenger seemingly lost his own grip, getting disqualified for beating on the World Heavyweight Champion while he had the ropes. It was part of the plan, though €“ Sheamus's arm was injured, and so when Bryan applied the Yes! Lock, the Irishman soon passed out, evening the count. Unfortunately for Bryan, he couldn't maintain his momentum €“ Sheamus fought back, nailing all of his big moves and finally putting his opponent away with a Brogue Kick. Again, Daniel Bryan was defeated, but this time, he got to go down like a champion.
