10 WrestleMania Results That Made Absolutely No Sense

7. Triple H Defeats Randy Orton (WrestleMania XXV)

Spoiler alert: this is not the last time Triple H's name appears on this list.

That isn't down to any in-built bias against 'The Game' (conversely, your writer is a big fan of peak HHH), but because Captain Nepotism has been involved in swathes bewildering WrestleMania booking decisions throughout his lengthy career. Such is life when you're the Chairman's son-in-law.

WrestleMania XXV's build saw Randy Orton snap on the McMahon family, punting each member to the high heavens in the weeks following his Royal Rumble victory. It was great stuff from 'The Viper,' and some of the best character work of his career, and with former mentor Triple H established as the man stepping in to defend his family's honour, the stage was set for a big 'Mania triumph.

WWE made a colossal error in having the match go last. It died a death after the stunning highs of Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker, and the decision to have 'The Game' go over was just as confounding. Orton's psychotic break was rendered pointless. He'd been flattened by one of the biggest shovel-wielders in the business, his WrestleMania moment robbed.
