10 WrestleMania Results That Made Absolutely No Sense
3. Triple H Defeats Booker T (WrestleMania XIX)
Triple H's WrestleMania XIX defeat of Booker T remains the most galling at the 'Show Of Shows.'
Much of this is down to the build. Presented as a challenger unworthy of fighting for 'The Game's' World Heavyweight Championship, WWE's creative room resorted to borderline bigotry throughout a much-maligned storyline that served only to undermine the former WCW man.
Hunter would pick on the 19 months Booker spent in prison in the early '90s as part of his case. Then, in their first Monday Night Raw confrontation, he infamously told his challenger that "somebody like you doesn't get to be a world champion. People like you don't deserve it." Those words actually came out of the man's mouth, for Christ's sake, and it somehow got worse as 'The Game' commanded Booker to "do a little dance for me."
This preamble meant that in kayfabe terms, Hunter's victory was a result of his perceived ethnic superiority. Think about that for a moment. That isn't HHH "being a heel," but the writing team approaching a sensitive topic with the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the mouth.
Add the fact that Booker T's popular was through the roof before he ran into Triple H, and that he was on the verge of breaking out as a legitimate headliner to the mix, and the decision makes even less sense.
