Idolo may not have captured any gold in AEW yet, but his transition to the company has been full of highs. His promo work has been solid, and his recent pairing with Chavo Guerrero Jr is guaranteed to be a sure-fire hit. So, of all the stars for Punk to tackle, the former La Sombra would undoubtedly be among the best.
There's an instant antithesis between the pair, as Idolo's suit-wearing and arrogant antics make him the perfect contrast to Punk's punkish (go figure) look and more casual persona. So seeing them battle it out would be a complete clash of styles and could lead to some exciting storyline potential.
However, simply put, Idolo is a phenomenal in-ring worker, and although he's probably got some ring rust, Punk was one of the most impressive performers inside the squared circle during his time, so there's no doubt these two would go to Hell and back.
Their showdown would be full of the right momentum, star-power and in-ring chemistry to make it a classic, and AEW would be foolish not to capitalise on it.
