10 Wrestlers That Seriously Took The Piss

2. John Cena

John Cena engaged a different mode of d*ckhead when he took the piss out of Roman Reigns' readiness for the spot he'd abdicated several years earlier.

Promo battles on Raw played with the parameters of work and shoot, with cut-offs and stumbles feeling real even if they'd been meticulously planned. Cena's "listen carefully young man" or "it's called a promo, kid" was hardly Pipe Bomb stuff even if he said "SEE YA FOURTH WALL" as if said concept was an idiotic goon in an idiotic action flick. Point was, theoretically, that Roman was out of his depth and Cena was there to drown rather than rescue him.

Yet, it was strange - after all the talk, the bang average match they had at No Mercy 2017 was a bigger indictment of Cena's inability to help elevate 'The Big Dog' that it was Roman's ability to step up. Reigns had been dealing with hostile crowds and environments for several years and had delivered a raft of bangers in spite of them. He couldn't do it with 'Big Match John', (or Cena couldn't do it with him), no matter how they made it look with the all arm-raising at the end.

Not for the first time, 'The Champ's verbal broadside was at odds with the actual story, and in this case even more so than it was with Roman himself.
