10 Wrestlers Who 'Borrowed' What Got Them Over

2. Hulk Hogan

Looking at Superstar Billy Graham's impact on the sport, it's hard not to see him as the template for Hogan (and other bleach blond muscle monsters like Jesse Ventura and Scott Steiner); he had the flowing blonde hair, the tie-dyed, colourful surfer dude look. He also had a propensity for saying the word 'brother'.

It's well known that Hogan idolised Graham, and took many of his visual cues from him. But that's not all that Hogan has been accused of borrowing over the years. Austin Idol was a fellow dyed-blond wrestler who rose to prominence in the 70s. He also wore brightly-dyed tights like Graham, and wrestled in Southern Territories, like Memphis Wrestling (as did the Hulkster).

What makes Idol relevant to this entry is that he would often talk about 'Idolmania' and how it was 'running wild'. Does that sound familiar? So the story goes, while wrestling the southern territories as Terry Boulder, the man who would be Hulk either saw Austin Idol, or was told about Idolmania by one of his fellow wrestlers and started to incorporate it into his act.

It went quite well for him.
