Sunny, despite her lack of time competing in the squared circle, is one of wrestling's all-time most infamous figures. Before she was a pariah in the industry as a whole, she was a punching bag for the WWE locker room. As a woman in a man's domain lacking female representation, she was an easy target. Her own provocation is arguably partially to blame.

Much of Sunny's nuclear heat was generated by her relationship with Shawn Michaels, and the rumours that it was happening when she was still in a relationship with high school sweetheart Chris Candido. Sunny gleefully referred to herself as, or at least embraced, the nickname, "The Kliq Chick," despite Bam Bam Bigelow's concerns that Candido was depressed, which the Kliq thrived on. Sunny also claimed to have slept with Davey Boy Smith, someone who Candido trusted and admired.

Sunny received such backlash as X-Pac reportedly planting faeces in her Chinese food and the infamous incident where Henry Godwinn encouraged the locker room to add their own "samples" to a slop bucket meant for Sunny. Her competition with Sable also added to the isolation she endured in the locker room.
