10 Wrestlers Who Became Involved In Politics

8. Rick Steiner

Whilst many will dearly wish it was his brother Scott, the fact that Rick Steiner (one half of the most protected tag team in WWF/E history no less) is involved in politics is enough to put a smile on one's face whatever the weather. People are still pretty amazed that Rick turned out to be the normal Steiner after all, but seeing him in polo shirts shaking hands and kissing babies may be a step too far for most.

Rick is a school board member of the Cherokee County School District. He was initially disqualified from running in the 2006 term primary on account of him using the 'Steiner' name, as opposed to his real family name of Rechsteiner. Undeterred, Steiner ran as a write-in candidate later in the year and was successful.

The threat of the Dog-Faced Gremlin looms large over Cherokee County.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
