10 Wrestlers Who Could Win Their First World Championship In 2020
5. Velveteen Dream
One of the finest and funniest characters to come out of NXT’s near decade long run, The Velveteen Dream has future megastar written all over him. Prodigiously talented for his age (24!), The Dream has been a hit with fans and wrestlers alike and has shown great promise as both a heel and a face throughout his programs on NXT. A former NXT North American champion, Dream is yet to capture main event gold.
Amazingly young in his career, Dream is likely to spend 2020 in NXT still and would be a natural choice of new champ over Adam Cole (or Tommaso Ciampa if he is to dethrone Cole as per the rumours). Defending the title against veteran heel Finn Bálor would be a new and exciting program for the yellow brand in the new year.
From his elaborate entrances to his endlessly quotable promos, Dream’s larger than life persona and old school style of ring work make him a stand out in the grittier, more work rate oriented NXT and it is this outsider status that would make him a perfect fit as new champ in 2020.
