10 Wrestlers Who Found God

4. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle is one of the greatest wrestlers ever. In the last 15 years, the case can be made that he's been the best wrestler in the business. He spent that time in both WWE and TNA Wrestling. A part of the reason why Angle left WWE is because his drug addiction in 2006 got out of control, WWE wanted him to go to rehab while he wanted a lighter schedule and when both sides couldn't agree on things he quit. Angle likely benefited from TNA's lighter schedule, but he still drank and used painkiller drugs. He was arrested for multiple DUI's in his career although never had to serve jail time. In 2013 after another DUI, he went to rehab that WWE paid for. That's what finally helped him. Here's how Angle explained the changes he made in his life in 2013: "Basically putting God first. Realizing my whole life has been revolved around me and high expectations of myself and never really enjoying what I have done and what I have accomplished, whether it be in the Olympics or in pro wrestling. I have never really been satisfied. It led to a lot of depression and turmoil. It's about going easy on yourself and patting yourself on the back every once in a while, which I've never done. With anything it's putting things in perspective a little bit. What I do is a job. My marriage and my kids are more important than that. I don't think I ever looked at it that way until now." Angle is married with four children, so it's wonderful to see that he's got his priorities in order again. Whether he works for WWE again or not, what matters is that his life is back on track. It's great to see that.
