10 Wrestlers Who Had Their Trigger Pulled Way Too Late

5. Kane

King Booker World Heavyweight Champion

It is remarkable just how little Kane has seen of the main event picture over his 22 year existence.

Since the character came into being in 1997, The Big Red Machine has been world champion three times. This may seem like a lot, but when you consider one of those reigns was with the ECW Championship and the other was a one day reign as WWF Champion in 1998, it paints a very different picture.

Kane's only substantial run at the top came in 2010, when he spent 154 days as World Heavyweight Champion on SmackDown.

The Mayor of Knox County won the belt by cashing in Money in the Bank on Rey Mysterio and would defend it in a dreadful storyline with The Undertaker and in a feud with Edge that was voted the "Worst of the Year" by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Not only was Kane's time as champion poorly-received, but it also came about a decade too late. Kane should have been given the title during the Attiude Era, when he was fresh and exciting. In 2010, he was in his forties, flattened out, and bald.

This was not the Kane people wanted to see as world champion.
