10 Wrestlers Who Had Their Trigger Pulled Way Too Late
3. Booker T
The Reign of Terror. Told you it would be back.
WrestleMania XIX is widely regarded as a great show. Michaels vs Jericho. Brock vs Kurt. Hogan vs Vince. All classics in their own right. However, an often forgotten misstep taken at this show was not having Booker T defeat Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Booker was being built up as a "rags-to-riches" babyface who rejected a life of crime and turned his life around. He even had to face up to racist comments from his opponent. Everyone was ready to see him beat The Game and lead Raw as its top champion. Everyone was wrong.
Booker not only lost to Trips, but he lost bad. After The Game hit a Pedigree on an injured Booker, he took almost thirty seconds to actually make the winning cover, making the former WCW guy look like a total chump.
Had Booker been booked better, he could have been a major player going forward. It wasn't until three years later - under his "King Booker" gimmick - that the future two-time Hall of Famer finally won world championship gold in WWE, but he never truly got over the loss to Triple H.
So much for a happy ending.
