9. Ed Ferrara
In October 1999, whilst the rest of the company was away on a European tour, WWF head writer Vince Russo slipped away in the dead of night to join their rivals. Wonder how that turned out…
It’s easy to forget that Russo wasn’t the only one who switched sides. He was joined by Ed Ferrara, a former television writer and part-time wrestler who had only joined the creative team in 1998. Ed worked alongside Russo during the company's boom period and was an integral part of their eventual victory in the 'Monday Night Wars'.
Ferrara and Russo had a strong working relationship in Connecticut, but once they moved to Atlanta, the latter's wild ego quickly took over. At least the former got some screen time, albeit in one of the worst gimmicks in WCW history.
Oklahoma was a painfully obvious parody of Jim Ross. He was a comedy character who spoke with an exaggerated Southern accent and blinded his enemies with BBQ sauce. Ferrara also contorted his face while playing the character, which was a tasteless mockery of JR’s Bell’s Palsy.
Russo might have been more responsible for WCW's death, but Ferrara's hands aren't clean either.
