10 Wrestlers Who Made Insane Demands
3. Bret Hart Won't Job In Canada
Imagine if Drew McIntyre promptly informed WWE that he'd never lose the top belt in Scotland, or the United Kingdom generally. He'd be blasted by all and sundry for being big-headed and believing his own homeland hype just a little bit too much. If Vince McMahon decrees the job must happen in his hometown, then it must.
Sod that, said Bret Hart.
In 1997, Hart told a bemused McMahon that he wouldn't drop the WWF Title in his native Canada before leaving for WCW. That defiance infamously led to a 'Screwjob' that may/may not have been covered before by one or two wrestling writers. Without going too in-depth on it here, the question must be asked: Bret, what were you thinking?
Geo-blocking a wrestling title change because it might happen in the country you were born shouldn't be a thing. Yes, Bret was (and still is) a hero in Canada, but that didn't give him the right to refuse booking when he was already jumping to another organisation anyway.
