Long time Ring of Honor stalwart Jimmy Jacobs is a legend of the independent wrestling scene, earning top championships in most of America's top indie promotions as well as making a name for himself as a backstage producer in both WWE and AEW.

He's courted some controversy in front of the camera, however. While signed with IWA Mid-South, Jacobs won their Heavyweight Championship from Danny Daniels at April Bloodshowers in 2005. By November though, IWA was in financial difficulty and apparently cancelling shows. When appearing at another indie fed, Jacobs came out with the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Championship to cut a promo on both the promotion and its founder Ian Rotten, stating that he was pissed about not getting paid for the cancelled dates and threw his championship in a garbage can on camera.

Many at the time wondered whether or not the promo was a work or shoot. Jacobs came out after the fact stating he was still the champion, and Ian Rotten said they were working on getting a challenger for him for their December show.

The company also mentioned consequences for the disrespect shown to the IWA and its championship, which came in the form of wrestling a falls count anywhere match against New Jack a couple of weeks later. Ooof!
