10 Wrestlers Who Threw Their Championships Away

4. Brock Lesnar - WWE Universal Championship

By 2018, WWE fans were getting tired of Brock Lesnar's stranglehold over the main event scene. Him winning the Universal championship and disappearing for months on end was becoming tiresome. It would appear that Lesnar himself wanted a break from this too, as WrestleMania 34 was due to be the last date on his contract - and he was ready to leave the company to return to UFC for a spell.

At the event, the Universal Champion squared off against the man he'd faced three years prior, Roman Reigns, another over-pushed act who fans weren't exactly fond of. Vince McMahon, who had intended for Reigns to go over for months prior, changed the finish on the day of the show (at one point rumoured to be during the match itself) and had Lesnar retain.

With his intentions to leave going awry, Brock pinned Roman and retained the championship in one of the worst WrestleMania main events ever, one the audience in attendance treated with utter scorn. Flanked by Paul Heyman, Lesnar left the ring and stormed through the gorilla position. Furious and frustrated at the change in booking, Brock hurled the Universal Championship across the room, with the big red belt landing on Vince's desk.

Neither Lesnar nor Heyman said a word on their way out - the only word being Vince shouting "asshole" at this contemptuous action.
