10 Wrestlers Who Won't Be In WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Match
1. Kenny Omega
On January 4, Kenny Omega headlined Wrestle Kingdom 11, delivering one of the best matches in wrestling history. The very next day, "The Cleaner" tweeted that he was taking a break from wrestling in Japan and his future was undecided.
Needless to say, that started the Omega-to-WWE rumor mill up and running. It's a fair assumption - after all, after Wrestle Kingdom 10, NJPW main-eventers AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura both left the company for WWE. Given that Omega now has more buzz surrounding him than anybody outside WWE, it's certain that the company would be interested in him.
Omega may end up in WWE - he hasn't even decided what he wants to do yet - but one thing is for sure: he won't be in the Royal Rumble. Kenny Omega's contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling ends on January 31, and the Rumble is on the 29th. That means Omega would be in breach of contract if he were to appear in the match, and given that New Japan has been jerked around by WWE before, don't expect them to let that one go without a fight. Legally, Omega can't work the Royal Rumble, so even if he does come to WWE (and I'm betting he spends at least another year in New Japan first), it will have to be some other day.
