If you go on match quality over the last, let's say, two years (and, really, what else is there to go on?) then Roman Reigns is probably in the top four or five in-ring performers in all of WWE.

The perception that he doesn't know his armbars from his chickenwings is mainly derived from the fact that he was so heavily protected during his early run, appearing frequently in multi-man matches alongside The Shield.

There's also an element of snobbery too. Roman is a genuine homegrown WWE star who doesn't have the same backlog of sports hall-hosted indie matches as, say, Dean Ambrose or Seth Rollins.

Given all of that, it was fair to be skeptical about his ability between the ropes in the early goings - but there is little justification for it today. The Big Dog has not only shared great matches with great workers, but also comparatively inexperienced ones like Braun Strowman. Love him or hate him, he rarely fails to deliver
