10 Wrestling Clichés That Need To Die
6. Overseas Fans Favour Their Own
This is less a misconception held by the fans than it is by WWE itself, whose approach to cracking the Indian market this year has been blunt, and perhaps not even that effective.
It's probably true, to be fair, that the average fan in the UK, for example, would like Neville or Drew McIntyre to receive a main event push. But would they really be any more willing to accept the notion of Gentleman Jack Gallagher becoming WWE Champion over-night than anyone else in the world?
There are Indian WWE fans online who have poured scorn on the idea that their fellow countrymen enjoy seeing Jinder Mahal (or for that matter, The Great Khali) as WWE Champion moreso than the wrestlers who sell out arenas in the United States.
Instead of trying to create a new hometown star for every overseas territory they visit, then, it might be more effective to just give us - all of us - cause to care about the likes of AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, and Finn Bálor.
