Just as it's wrong to portray NJPW as a promotion which has no drama, it's also wrong to portray WWE as a promotion which has only drama.

For all of its bombastic presentation and over-the-top storylines, Vince McMahon's company is, first and foremost, about wrestling. It puts on less of the stuff than many of its competitors, granted, but its detractors are wrong-headed when they refuse to look past the bright lights.

The fact is that, in any given year, many of the great in-ring moments will come courtesy of WWE. In fact, it is arguably more consistent in terms of in-ring quality than many other promotions: a lot of its matches are middling, a few are incredible, and a handful are genuinely awful.

If you aren't interested in the fluff, then there's no getting away from it: NJPW or Ring of Honor deserve your money. But if you like to combine a bit of cringe with moments of well-produced car-crash action, then WWE has you covered.
