The late-1990's could never be considered a prosperous, healthy time for Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. Ravaged by self-doubt, depression and spiralling into a deadly mixture of drugs and alcohol, Roberts was a shell of the larger than life performer he'd been years earlier. This strife was featured in Barry Blaustein's 'Beyond The Mat' documentary.

Fast-forward to today, and Roberts is in a much better place. Largely, this is down to the support of fans and the incredible help of Diamond Dallas Page. Chronicling Jake's journey from the brink, DDP was a huge part of 'The Resurrection Of Jake The Snake', a film racking up significant views on Netflix.

Talking to DC 101, Roberts revealed that the documentary nearly never left the cutting room floor. Having been burned badly by how he was exposed in Beyond The Mat, Jake was hesitant about once again baring his soul to the world.

Thankfully, Page gave him assurances that the film wouldn't see release without his blessing. Once Jake viewed the final cut, he realised just how much it could help others who are reluctant to accept help.
