6. Sting Never Believed He'd Ever Sign With WWE
It makes sense that the longer Steve Borden's career went on, the less chance he felt he'd have of signing a WWE contract. Regardless of this, it's also logical that the company themselves would be highly interested in working with the guy. After all, Sting had been one of WCW's top stars, and he'd never actually set foot inside a WWF/WWE ring. Signing him was considered a major coup. Working with TNA for many years, Borden was happy in Dixie Carter's promotion. During this time, a lot of fans wondered why Sting didn't elect to sign a WWE contract, but words this week from the man himself shockingly hint that he didn't think the McMahon family would be all that interested. It's difficult to see a legend such as Sting having doubts about himself, but the multi-time World Champion felt the ship had sailed on a WWE run. With each passing year, Sting reckoned his chances of signing with World Wrestling Entertainment diminished greatly. Up until he put pen to paper on a contract, Borden didn't think it was ever going to happen.
