RUSEV DAAAAAAAAAAAY!

That phrase (once crooned by new 205 Live announcer Aiden English) helped turn Rusev from a rudderless heel into one of the most popular, unlikely babyfaces on the roster. Since then, he's continued that momentum to recapture WWE's United States Title.

Apparently, claiming every day is his own personal holiday was supposed to be a one-off joke to further his feud with Randy Orton. Yes, during an interview with Planeta Wrestling, Rusev revealed 'Rusev Day' was only meant to air on one episode of SmackDown. WWE were simply so stunned by the fan response that they kept it going.

It's not difficult to see why. Rusev was doing precious little before he turned into a delusional big head who somehow connected with fans. The gimmick was one of those happy accidents that WWE sometimes shy away from, but they didn't on this occasion.
