10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (June 19)
2. TNA Pushing For Rey Mysterio
Is there a star currently in the world of professional wrestling who could make TNA a money-drawing company? That's a million dollar question, one that's been burning the brains of many for a good few years, but according to the promotion itself, Rey Mysterio is exactly the kind of performer they need to help rebuild a flagging audience. This week, Dixie Carter and other representatives from Impact Wrestling reached out to the masked man, confirming their interest in signing him to a major deal with TNA. At first glance, a lot of the terms seem to favour Mysterio, but the former WWE Champion doesn't seem all that interested in what Carter and company have to offer. If Mysterio did put pen to paper on a deal, he'd have virtual free reign to continue with other projects, only really working when he wanted for TNA. This obviously isn't the first time the promotion have reached out to a former WWE star, but the organisation clearly see money in the ability to sell his trademark masks and merchandise. It seems that's more enticing to TNA than actually having the man wrestle, but there doesn't seem to be much chance of it happening.
