10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (March 17)
3. Debra McMichael Wrote Kurt Angle's Infamous Cowboy Hat Skit
Kurt Angle will forever be regarded as one of WWE's greatest ever in-ring performers; putting on countless classic matches against the likes of Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and Chris Benoit, the soon-to-be Hall Of Fame inductee has had an incredible career.
Despite his natural aggression inside the ring though, Angle should also be viewed as much more of an all-rounder due to his excellent comedic timing and superb vocal performances over the years.
In 2001, Kurt forged an uneasy alliance with Steve Austin and Vince McMahon on television, and this union resulted in some of the most hilarious backstage segments in WWE history; armed with stupendous facial expressions and improvised banter, the trio were genuinely funny whether playing guitars or wearing cowboy hats.
It's stunning then to learn that one of these skits was the brainchild of Debra McMichael. The then-wife of Austin claimed during an interview with Uproxx that she was the one who penned the infamous cowboy hat segment that has since racked up millions of hits on YouTube.
Debra may have been a background figure in these promo skits, but she did contribute some ideas, including one of that period's most fondly remembered props.
