In 1999, WCW decided to copy what was happening in the WWF and create their own Hardcore Title division. Much like its WWF counterpart, the WCW Hardcore Title was never taken all that seriously. It switched from wrestler to wrestler regularly, and was mainly used as an excuse to add some variety on the undercard.

Something it did do was give a space on the roster to those struggling to move up the ladder. Guys like Bam Bam Bigelow and Brian Knobbs had little success higher up the card, but they were ideal for the weapon-filled Hardcore brawls. The only problem was, they'd have to source their own weapons for use during the matches!

According to Knobbs during an interview with WrestleZone Radio, WCW officials didn't provide weapons for the wrestlers. Instead, they'd have to scour arenas to find their own.

Tables were surely different, but Knobbs didn't go into great detail about those. He did however say that management didn't cut into the wood, making it harder for guys to crash through the tables.
