10 Wrestling Feuds That Borrowed From Unlikely Inspirations
4. Kane Vs Imposter Kane (The Undertaker Vs The Undertaker)
In 1994, The Undertaker needed to take some time off for the good of his physical and personal wellbeing. Vince McMahon, because it was 1994 and he was creative even if it flew in the face of commercial common sense, booked an Undertaker Vs Undertaker main event for August's SummerSlam, featuring 'The Deadman' returning against a doppelgänger bought and paid for by The Million Dollar Man.
In 2006, Kane wasn't doing much of note but Glenn Jacobs was. The future Mayor was about to turn movie star with the release of See No Evil on May 19th, which WWE turned into an origin story for his already-mangled background as way to keep bringing the date up on television.
A trip into his frazzled psyche turned the figurative into the literal when an imposter Kane emerged with a 1998 aesthetic plus a much bigger wig.
A pre-Festus Luke Gallows was under the gear for a month or so, serving as little more than a busybody against 'The Big Red Machine' until the pair met at Vengeance 2006. This time around, the copycat somehow even gained the victory. By then, the company was well on course to be the land of wins and losses not mattering though - the fake was sent packing after a billion chokeslams the next night.
