By Elimination Chamber 2019 in February, everyone knew that Ronda Rousey would collide with Becky Lynch in some fashion at WrestleMania. That was still two months away however, and WWE needed something to fill time in the interim. That's the only reason why Ruby Riott was suddenly thrust into the challenger spotlight.

Bore and indeed snore.

It was hard to take Ruby seriously as a threat to Ronda in the build up, and not only because the Lynch (and eventually Charlotte Flair) clash was imminent. Riott, as the leader of sophomoric bullies The Riott Squad, had been cannon fodder for almost everyone else in-ring, so it was bold of WWE to pretend she was on Rousey's level overnight.

Come the pay-per-view, Ronda creamed Ruby in less than two minutes. Fans in Houston yawned their way through all 120 seconds of that; most had probably circled the match as their designated toilet break before the show started. Riott's guarantee of victory was also an awful decision that helped nobody.
