10 Wrestling Matches To Entice New Fans

3. Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar - WrestleMania 33

The greatest sub-five minute match in WWE history? That is a discussion for another time, but there is something about the intensity and efficiency of this WrestleMania 33 Universal Championship match that appeals to old and new fans alike. Pro wrestling is a circus, an entertainment spectacle designed with pomp and circumstance in mind, but that can occasionally drag it down. Wrestling can often be a victim of its own bombast, but such allegations are nowhere to be seen when it comes to Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg.

The match lasts four minutes and 45 seconds, contains five different moves (one of which is actually a leapfrog) repeated over and over again, a barrage of simplicity that is equal parts exciting and engaging. Yes, the match had a story, but that isn't an integral part of what makes it enjoyable.

The WrestleMania 33 match between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg is the pro wrestling equivalent of a game of rugby. If you know the rules and the reasons, good for you. If you don't, you can enjoy watching the two big dudes throw each other around for five minutes. Well, four minutes and 45 seconds, to be exact.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
