10 Wrestling Mistakes & Botches That Became Storylines
2. Those Dark Order Punches
In the first months on Dynamite hundreds of comments and criticisms were directed at AEW online for the closing moments of the 12th episode, which featured a terrible botch that lives on as one of the worst displays of pro wrestling ever.
As The Dark Order were attacking The Elite, one of their henchmen threw some horribly fake-looking punches at Dustin Rhodes, not connecting at all.
The clip went viral on the internet and Dustin Rhodes was hugely embarrassed to be associated with it. AEW turned it around on their YouTube channel with Evil Uno talking to the Exalted One and promising The Elite will be taken care of. The Exalted One stated “I want the weak one gone”, with clips of the cringeworthy punches being shown from the henchman. Evil Uno said in response, “It will be done.”
The segment then shifted to The Dark Order surrounding the weeping henchman who couldn’t connect his punches, with Uno saying to him “Look at me. Did you think we wouldn’t find out? Do you work for someone else. Why did you join The Dark Order? Why did you show weakness? I’m disappointed in you? You showed so much potential. Why did you do it? Just tell me, I want to know the truth.”
It ended with Stu Grayson knocking the weeper out with a (good) punch.
