10 Wrestling Movies That Should Be Made

6. A Ric Flair Biopic

Vince McMahon’s forthcoming biopic promises to be a wild, entertaining ride through the life of one of wrestling’s great eccentrics. If it succeeds, studios could do a lot worse than giving the same treatment to some of the sport’s other colourful personalities, and none are bolder, brasher, or more movie-ready than Ric Flair.

Flair’s playboy lifestyle should be easy to portray on the big screen, and would work incredibly well as an Entourage-esque tale of fame and excess. There are plenty of other avenues to explore outside of stylin’ and proflin’, however, including the plane crash that almost ended his career in 1975, bankruptcy, and his tumultuous marital history.

From light-hearted popcorn flick to a more subdued character study, there are plenty of possible directions. ESPN are already producing a 30 For 30 documentary on his life and times, but ‘The Nature Boy’ is a movie character come to life, even today, as he rapidly closes-in on 70 years old. He might not be as relevant to mainstream culture as The Rock or Hulk Hogan, but Flair is the Keith Richards of wrestling, and if well-marketed, his story could have mass appeal.
