10 Wrestling Retirement Matches Where The Loser Came Back
6. Trish Stratus Vs. Lita - Unforgiven 2006
Okay, let's bend the rules one more time - Trish Stratus actually won her retirement match, which came at Unforgiven 2006 against archrival Lita. Nevertheless, it was promised to be her last match, and she came back afterwards.
Stratus had won a record-tying six WWE Women's Championships heading into her confirmed last bout against current champion Lita. Being as how the match was in Stratus's hometown of Toronto, fans were split over whether she could actually be one of the few stars to retire not just with a win, but with a championship. Sure enough, she made Lita submit to the Sharpshooter, claiming a seventh title and retiring as champ.
That marked the end of Stratus's full-time career, but starting in 2008, she came back for a few more bouts - the most controversial of which came at WrestleMania XXVII. At that show, she teamed with John Morrison and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi to defeat LayCool and Dolph Ziggler, but Morrison snubbed her during the post-match celebration.
It turned out he was annoyed that a retired star like Stratus got the coveted slot over his girlfriend, Melina, but it all blew over as nobody really cared what he thought.
