10 WWE Announcements That Fell Flat
7. Roman At No. 30
This wasn't strictly an announcement in the sense of someone grabbing a microphone and making a declaration to the crowd, but - in the Royal Rumble - hearing a wrestler's entrance music is the confirmation that they will be participating in the match (and, depending on what's going on the ring, it can often be confirmation that they are going to win).
Few expected Roman to take the final spot at the 2017 Rumble. He had already been involved in a gruelling match with Kevin Owens earlier on the show, and - given his adversarial relationship with the audience - it seemed unlikely that WWE would risk reinforcing the "Roman always wins" memes at a such a sensitive moment in his ongoing quest to get over.
Unless, of course, they were actually trying to troll us. That's what it felt like when the Big Dog was shoehorned into the match as the final entrant, a spot many were hoping was being saved for a returning veteran or just-signed indie star.
