As 2011's Money in the Bank PPV came to a close, CM Punk wandered out of the company's door with the WWE title draped over his shoulder.

So, on Raw the next night, Vince McMahon decided that an eight man tournament would crown the promotion's new WWE Champion.

Rey Mysterio and The Miz made it to the final - which was postponed until the following week's edition of the red show - and Mysterio actually went on to win the gold. What a lovely moment. Years of hard work had paid off. One of the all time greats finally had his WWE Championship reign.

That was until John Cena challenged Mysterio later on in the night and reclaimed the bedazzled title. That in itself probably qualifies as a painful bait and switch, but this episode of Raw was far from over.

Just as Cena appeared to have reached the top of the mountain once again, Cult of Personality by Living Colour abruptly announced the return of the one true WWE Champion.

Fans were rightly frustrated by Cena's win over Mysterio and right when they'd perhaps lost faith in the company, WWE pulled off another delightful swerve which could not have been predicted in the re-emergence of the rebellious CM Punk.
