10 WWE Champions You Never Thought You'd See

6. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio was always a superstar who never fit the mold of WWE's main event picture. At a time when pay-per-view headliners were always tall, big sweaty men, a guy like Mysterio was never supposed to reach that promised land.

Even when he won the World Heavyweight Championship, many believed it was only to honor Eddie Guerrero's memory. A year after the fact, nobody imagined Mysterio would ever win a World Title ever again.

Fast forward to 2011, five years after the Leader of the 619 won the World Title at WrestleMania 22. The San Diego Superstar not only won another World Title. He won the most prestigious title this business has to offer: the WWE Championship. In the finals of a tournament for the vacant WWE Championship, Lil' Rey Rey defeated The Miz in perhaps the crowning achievement of his career.

Unfortunately, he would lose that title to John Cena later in the night, to the outrage of Rey's biggest fans. Casualties aside, the Biggest Little Man of the WWE will always have that outstanding accolade to his name, even if it only lasted a day. That's still a day longer than most wrestlers will ever hold the WWE Championship.
