For some, the Empty Arena match for the WWE Championship that occurred on the special Halftime Heat program during intermission of Super Bowl XXXIII represents the wild and crazy style that defined the Attitude Era. For others, though, it was a ridiculously unnecessary match that failed to properly portray the animosity that existed between the two. At its worst, it crossed the line into industry exposing.

Too often, Rock stopped to make a wise crack in the middle of this intense brawl, completely ruining the mood. Too many spots were contrived for the sake of entertainment, completely losing sight of what the contest was supposed to be. On the heels of a Royal Rumble "I Quit" match that was hard to watch because of the sheer brutality that the Superstars dealt to each other, the followup was a master class in what not to do.

Already a tough match to pull of to great success, the match failed miserably. It is no wonder, then, that WWE never replicated it.
