10 WWE Main Event Feuds That Didn't End At WrestleMania

4. Sgt Slaughter Vs Hulk Hogan

Though the Sgt Slaughter/Hulk Hogan feud had drawn disappointing figures and alienated much of the audience due to the distasteful Iraqi defection of Sarge during the Gulf War, their WrestleMania 7 battle would be the first of two consecutive pay-per-view main events and multiple headline bouts across the country for several months in 1991.

In reality, while The Undertaker was being groomed for huge things in a programme with the Ultimate Warrior, WWE were critically low on top heels during the period following Randy Savage's storyline retirement, Jake Roberts' heel turn and the September arrival of Ric Flair.

Left with Slaughter and his Saddam Hussein-like manager General Adnan as their only options, the act was beefed up with the addition of Colonel Mustafa (the former Iron Sheik), and a fireball attack on 'The Hulkster' immediately following his WrestleMania title win.

Joining forces with The Ultimate Warrior, Hogan took on Slaughter's 'Triangle of Terror' in a handicap tussle entitled the 'Match Made In Hell' at Summerslam '91.

Definitively defeating the triumvirate, Hogan's pinfall on his military rival spelled the end of Slaughter's heel run, relegating him to the role a fallen patriot looking for redemption.
