10 WWE Managers Who Totally Outshone Their Wrestlers
6. Kelly Kelly (Mike Knox)
Nobody has ever confused Kelly Kelly for an in-ring general, but during her time in WWE she proved herself to be popular amongst the fanbase, albeit during the Divas era, which favoured titillation over technique.
Kelly debuted for WWE/ECW on 13 June 2006 aged 19 with an exhibitionist gimmick. She was motivated by the overwhelming desire to strip for the crowd. To add some depth to the premise, Mike Knox was added as her on-screen boyfriend - an antagonist to prevent Kelly from baring her skin.
Wrestling's predominantly male fanbase would make it hard for anybody to outshine Kelly Kelly and her provocative gimmick. It would take a wrestler with supreme technique and magnetic charisma to do so. Knox had neither of these things.
Knox managed to get some heat using the tried and tested 'jealous boyfriend trope'. Though his matches became dominated by him trying to keep an eye on his valet at ringside. The duo split up with Knox attacking and faux-injuring Kelly.
While both made it to the main roster, only Kelly managed to get gold (WWE Divas Championship). Kelly doesn't have the best match record but her appearance in softcore match stipulations made her memorable. Knox on the other hand quickly became a jobber until his release.
