10 WWE Match Results That Didn't Matter At All

When it comes to pointless feuds, it's hard to come up with a better example than Randy Orton versus Bray Wyatt. From 2016 to 2017, the two men spent eight months in a program that saw Orton pretend to join The Wyatt Family, turn on his leader, and win the WWE Title in a WrestleMania match featuring projected images of bugs.

Finally, at Payback, the men would put their feud to bed, once and for all. Given that Wyatt had been moved to the Raw brand in the Superstar Shake-Up, this would be the final match - but it also meant that Orton wouldn't be putting the WWE Championship on the line. Heading into their bout - the first-ever House of Horrors match - fans were wary of what could happen.

That fear was well placed. Apart from the fact that the match - which was partially pre-taped in an actual house - was terrible, the stakes couldn't have been lower. Wyatt ended up winning when Orton was attacked by Jinder Mahal (with whom he'd already started feuding for the WWE Title), but despite technically emerging victorious from the longest feud of his life, it did nothing for the stagnant 'Eater of Worlds'. Orton, meanwhile, continued on as WWE Champion on SmackDown.
