10 WWE Match Results That Didn't Matter At All
4. Lex Luger Vs. Yokozuna (SummerSlam 1993)
After Yokozuna won the WWE Championship at King of the Ring 1993, Lex Luger soon emerged as his first challenger. In the attempt to make Luger the company's new top babyface, Vince McMahon spared no expense - the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion bodyslammed Yokozuna on the deck of the U.S.S. Intrepid on 4 July, then spent the summer touring the country in a custom bus, The Lex Express.
Luger didn't get over the way WWE wanted, and come SummerSlam - where he was set to challenge Yokozuna for the title - it made no sense to do the switch. How could Luger fail to win the title without completely compromising his status as a pro-American babyface?
He couldn't, but it didn't stop WWE from trying. In the main event of the second-biggest show of the year, Luger knocked Yokozuna out of the ring with a running forearm, and the colossal champion couldn't get back inside in time to beat the referee's count. Luger won the match without winning the title, and a huge celebration ensued. Despite how WWE tried to spin it, though, fans knew Luger hadn't won anything, and the finish came off as incredibly lame.
