10 WWE Match Results That Didn't Matter At All

Back in June 2011, CM Punk's "pipe bomb" promo made him the hottest star in wrestling. He beat John Cena for the WWE Championship in a classic match and left the promotion with the title, keeping fans guessing. While he came back too early - and was put into a feud with Kevin Nash, of all people - he still had the potential to be a superstar.

Then along came Triple H. Triple H's career as an active wrestler was over, but he was the on-screen COO, and that put him at odds with Punk. The two battled at Night of Champions 2011, and despite the fact that Punk had gone over WWE's top star in Cena two months in a row, he met his match in 'The Game'. HHH beat Punk, proving that the rising star was no match for the retiree.

To make matters worse, two months later, Punk would win the WWE Championship and go on to hold it for over a year. So what was the point of having Triple H beat him, aside from letting Triple H feel like he's the best? It's anyone's guess.
