Immortalised in pro wrestling pub quiz questions for all eternity, R-Truth inexplicably found himself the recipient of a WWE Championship match in the summer of 2011. How did it happen? Well, a cigarette-fuelled heel turn led to a number of hilarious promos involving equal amounts of spite and Lil' Jimmy, which in turn led to the main event of WWE Capitol Punishment 2011. If ever there was a phrase that showed just how needed CM Punk's 'pipe bomb' was, that will be it.

Truth worked his way into the championship match by wildly claiming there was a conspiracy against him and verbally abusing Cena's fans, even going so far as to throw water in the face of one child's father. The Anonymous RAW General Manager was in charge at the time, an absent and incompetent leader who made matches based on whims and little else.

The match itself was slow, boring and awkward, a trio that don't make for a particularly entertaining main event. It takes two tango and thus Truth shouldn't shoulder all of the blame, but it wasn't a great outing for a man looking to make his mark in the main event. This was as good as it got in terms of the WWE Championship for Truth, as Punk's promo changed everything and the future 24/7 Champion found himself in the midcard once again.
