10 WWE NXT Stars Who Have Been Down In Developmental For 5 Or More Years

8. Wesley Blake

Wesley Blake isn't in a much better boat than Steve Cutler, though he's been around for a full year longer. Similar to Cutler, he started out in an enhancement role and has worked his way up the card before finding success alongside Buddy Murphy in the tag team division.

They won the NXT Tag Team Championship from The Lucha Dragons in January 2015 and reigned as champs for over eight months. Unfortunately, nothing about their title run was remotely memorable, except for how their valet Alexa Bliss managed to overshadow them more often than not.

Truth be told, Murphy was the sole reason why their team was as relevant for as long as it was. Blake was clearly the Marty Jannetty to Murphy's Shawn Michaels, and once they went their separate ways, there was no hope for him.

While Murphy went on to bigger and better things on 205 Live and now on the main roster, Blake remained put in NXT and found new allies in Steve Cutler and Jaxson Ryker. With The Forgotten Sons, Blake is in a similar situation as before, where Ryker is infinitely more interesting than either him or Blake. It's only inevitable that Ryker breaks off on his own and leaves them in the dust.

If WWE hasn't bothered to call up Blake by now, it's hard to believe they ever will.
