10 WWE Questions You Most Want Answered - SummerSlam 2016 Retrospective
1. Can You Sum Up SummerSlam In One Word?
For some reason I can't embed this tweet, but our final question comes from @kian_mallinson. He asks for the one word I'd use to sum up SummerSlam, and I'd have to go with 'difficult'.
The show was four hours long (or six, if you include the pre-show), and was definitely a slog to watch in one sitting. It also seemed difficult for the company themselves, with Balor suffering a very unfortunate injury, the WWE Universal Championship belt being subjected to a terrible response, and nobody quite sure how to react to the ending of the main event. Even Chris Jericho reportedly though it was a shoot, leading to a heated confrontation with Brock Lesnar backstage.
Moreover, the show was a difficult event to form an opinion on. It generally seemed very weird, almost like a deviation from WWE's regular storylines - much like WrestleMania 32, as I suggested earlier in this article. Time will probably help clear things up with regards to where this show stands in the overall story of 2016, but it certainly can't be regarded as a standout.
