10 WWE Returns That Must Happen In 2024

2. The Rock

Standing to be potentially the most controversial figure in wrestling should he want the WWE Championship match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, the spectre of The Rock lurks ominously over World Wrestling Entertainment.

This is unfamiliar ground for ‘The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment’, but after the company went beyond testing the patience of a cautiously optimistic returning fanbase at the ‘Show Of Shows’ in 2023, they can’t chase the shortcut second time around.

For the good of the organisation, Cody Rhodes has to dethrone ‘The Tribal Chief’ on the biggest night of the year, but this shouldn’t slam the door on Rock’s return.

WWE have the advantage of WrestleMania going two nights, and the event should be XL by name and nature. Let Reigns defeat The Rock on Night One, only to fall to ‘The American Nightmare’ 24 hours later. It’s the ultimate cake-and-eat-it booking call, as long as ‘The Great One’ follows the form of his full time career and is willing to do business.
