10 WWE Returns That Nobody Asked For (Which Ended Up Being Awesome)

Does it get any better than the sight of a wrestler you haven't seen in a while strutting back down the ramp to the sound of thousands losing their sh*t? Nope, I don't believe it does.

However, not all comebacks are equally celebrated, I'm afraid, and some simply don't kick-start months of overly excited fantasy booking in the way that others do. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are destined to fail, though.

Quite the contrary. With the lowered expectations that come with fans simply not begging for a certain star to return, comes a sort of freedom and a reduced amount of pressure on the performer in some cases. This scenario has often led to spectacular showdowns we never knew we needed, the formation of stables which would go on to become feature players in the company, and a new-found appreciation for a wrestler who was well overdue some respect.

Sure, you may not have been begging Vince McMahon to lure any of these names back into his squared-circle, but, every star on this list went on to more than prove their worth later down the line.

With the likes of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Asuka and even Ronda Rousey all plying their trade in WWE's Women's division in 2018, fans weren't exactly missing some of the other talents from days gone by.

Yet, that still didn't stop WWE from throwing The Bella Twins back into the mix towards the end of the year, with the Total Bellas stars teaming with Raw Women's Champion Rousey to take on The Riott Squad at Australia's Super Show-Down. Most people could see this was likely heading towards a match between the "Baddest Woman on the Planet" and one of the Bellas (or both) and, sure enough, the twins turned on Rousey soon after.

It was then announced that Nikki would challenge for Rousey's belt at the first ever all-women's Evolution PPV. Yet, many felt their bout and feud was merely a way to drag in casual viewers due to the name value of the stars involved, and they would've liked to have seen one of the aforementioned full-time names in this spot instead.

Though that was still likely the case, the pair actually put together an excellent encounter and this was easily Rousey's best singles match at that time.

This would actually end up being the last match a Bella would appear in, with the twins confirming their retirement the following year. Not a bad way to sign off, I suppose.
