10 WWE Stars To Take Seth Rollins' Place In The Authority
7. Alberto Del Rio
Alberto del Rio's return at Hell in a Cell made for one hell of a surprise, but he's been somewhat squandered since. While a match is clearly in the works for him and Jack Swagger at Survivor Series, that feels like a retread of old ground, and a story thrown together simply to give Del Rio an opponent he can easily take out (the only thing making it somewhat entertaining is the fact that WWE Creative remembered their own history for once, making Swagger's decision to become involved with what the new United States Champion and his former mentor Zeb Colter are up to at least a little more compelling that it otherwise might be). While it's most likely that the WWE is simply killing time with Del Rio until John Cena returns, Rollins' absence may have changed those plans, and having him ditch Colter and the cringe-worthy "Meximerica" gimmick to join The Authority has a lot more potential than him taking on the likes of R-Truth and Neville in jobber matches for the foreseeable future. There's been a lot of backstage about the company wanting a top Hispanic star, and that's not going to be the case with Del Rio when he's stuck in the midcard. He came back to the WWE looking better than ever, and while that Tree Of Woe Diving Foot Stomp needs to go (it takes forever to set up and doesn't even look that nasty after the first couple of times seeing it), another run at the top against some of the fresher faces who have emerged since his departure has the potential to make for very interesting viewing. This would also be a good thing for the US title after John Cena turned its fortunes around.
